2023 has just started but the most relevant trends of 2023 are already well outlined. One of them is skeleton watches, with the unique ability to bring the art of watchmaking into full view…

Their structure reveals not only the mechanism behind the timepiece, but also allows the wearer to admire the intricate inner workings of the watch. Perfect both for those who love trendy models and for the more nostalgic, the skeletons reveal the heart of the timepiece by mixing a traditional taste with a more contemporary aesthetic.
An example of all is the AIKON Automatic Skeleton by Maurice Lacroix, a model inspired by the city and urban architecture. The Swiss firm worked closely with movement specialist, Sellita, to craft a brand new piece. Once the preserve of Haute Horlogerie, Maurice Lacroix has democratized the skeleton watch, true to the brand’s strong desire to offer timepieces synonymous with elegance and quality to a wider audience.
After all, Maurice Lacroix has a long history in the production of skeleton watches and has never stopped innovating over the years. In fact, with the AIKON Automatic Skeleton, the brand wanted to create a new model with a contemporary charm with reduced case dimensions. Presented in a 39 mm stainless steel case, the small diameter of this watch offers a striking aesthetic, which complements the brand’s portfolio of skeleton models with 43 mm, 44 mm and 45 mm cases.
Part of the appeal of the AIKON Automatic Skeleton lies in showing many parts usually hidden from view. The wearer can, in fact, admire the movement of various components such as the balance wheel which swings back and forth. Inspired by some of the most interesting buildings in our cities, this movement plays with transparency, allowing light to pass through various openings, thus illuminating infinite details. The oscillating weight is personalized and features a sandblasted decoration and a sunburst effect. Furthermore, the movement is equipped with circular grain and colimaçon.
Consistent with the other models in the AIKON collection, this latest creation shares the same case and bracelet, offering high levels of comfort for the wearer. Furthermore, thanks to the Easy Strap Exchange System, the wearer can easily replace the bracelet with one of the leather or rubber straps without the aid of additional tools.
